Solids Control: Mucky Bottoms
Solids Control: Pond owners are often challenged when their ponds were overwhelmed with algae. Many pond owners use chemicals to poison the algae, which is not good for the Pond in the long run.
The chemicals are not only poison to the algae, they also kill the beneficial microbes which break down dead matter. Without the microbes, the debris is on the bottom of the pond and rots. A repulsive stench is the result. What is happening at the bottom of the pond is all of this rotting matter just sits there. It’s like having a compost pile at the bottom of your Pond. There are no microbes to break this matter down therefore it sits and rots is stinks.
If your pond bottom is a muck littered with dead waste, then AQ-2 is the product for the job. Herbicides being washed into the pond during rain run off kill the microbes which are crucial for the cycle of nature to properly function. With the microbes present in the water dead matter is consumed by beneficial micro organisms cleansing the water bottom.
AQ-2 is an aquatic microbial formula that concentrates the specific microbes which are needed for solids control, when heavy amounts of organic waster must be disposed of on the bottom of the water body.
The overall application rate is lower with AQ-2 compared to the other aquatic products. Depth of water is not a factor, as AQ-2 targets the bottom of the water body, not the water which it contains.
The application rate for AQ-2 is 1 pound per acre. In extreme conditions or heavy storm run off, an additional treatment of 1/2 pound per acre may be required. The depth of the accumulated silt is also another factor, naturally.
